The Committee for the establishment of the University in the Galilee is renewing its activities

The Committee will be headed by Prof. Benny Geiger.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha-Biton: "University in Galilee is a national destination that has been talked about a lot, and we are working hard to realize it".

Further to the July 2021 decision led by the Chairman of the CHE, the Minister of Education Dr. Yifat Shasha-Biton, regarding the establishment of a committee to examine the establishment of the University of Galilee, PBC and CHE today updated the composition of the aforementioned committee.

The committee will be headed by Prof. Benny Geiger of the Weizmann Institute, who previously served as chairman of the National Science Foundation.

In its letter of appointment, the Committee was asked to formulate an outline for the establishment of the University of the Galilee while examining the national, academic, planning, budgetary and other aspects of the issue and to submit its recommendations to the PBC and CHE.

CHE has approved the new composition of the Committee, as stated by Prof. Benny Geiger, and its members will be (in alphabetical order):

The Chairman of the CHE and the Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Biton: "The University in Galilee is a national destination that has been talked about a lot, and we are working hard to realize it. The establishment of a university in the Galilee will be a real game changer in the development of the Galilee, will serve as an anchor for the entire region and will help to strengthen and improve accessibility to higher education. The north and the south of Israel will be promoted on our watch by actions, not just by words".
