To a great extent, the process of quality assessment and assurance is based on self-evaluation within and by the institutions. The internal evaluation process is an integral part of the activity plan of each institution, and the institutions are expected to operate a mechanism for carrying out this task.

Currently, quality assessment and assurance in the higher education system in Israel is carried out at the study program level. At the next stage, quality assessment will be carried out at the institutional level.
