Scholarships for the Integration of Outstanding Faculty

Goals: This program supports outstanding young scientists and its purpose is to enable universities to hire the scholars full-time. The universities commit to hire the scholars as full-time faculty members at the end of the scholarship period.

The scholarship period: The program grants triennial faculty scholarships for three academic years.

The scholarship amount: NIS 300,000 a year, equal to the average salary cost at the level of the recipient’s employment grade (lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor).

In addition, in the first year the scholar recipients are granted a unique research grant of NIS 170,000 for experiments and NIS 50,000 for theoretical research.

Number of scholarships: Every year the PBC grants 25 Alon Scholarships in the following areas: humanities, social studies, life sciences, exact sciences, and engineering.



Goals: Maof scholarships are for outstanding young scientists from the Arab community of Israel. Their purpose is to enable recipients to be hired by the higher education institutions funded by the PBC, including Israeli universities and academic colleges. The universities commit to hire the recipients as full-time faculty members at the end of the scholarship period.

The amount of the scholarship: NIS 300,000 a year, equal to the average salary cost at the level of the scholar’s employment grade (lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor). In addition, in the first year the scholars are granted a unique research grant of NIS 170,000 for experiments and NIS 50,000 for theoretical research.

Scholars hired by colleges are given a unique absorption grant of NIS 100,000 for experimental fields and NIS 30,000 for theoretical fields.

Number of scholarships: Every year 6 Maof scholarships are granted, of which 4 are funded by the PBC and 2 by the Rothschild Foundation.



Purpose of the program: To absorb academic faculty members of Ethiopian origin in institutions of higher education. The program is for outstanding scientists of Ethiopian origin. Institutions that hire the scientists of Ethiopian origin commit at the end of the scholarship to give the recipients regular employment at the institution.
