Scholarships for Outstanding Doctoral Students

Program goals

• Training a teaching and research faculty to promote and enrich research in the humanities in Israel.

• Encourage outstanding students to pursue research in the humanities.

The scholarship period: The scholarships are triennial for three academic years.

The amount of the scholarship: Each scholarship is NIS 80,000 a year. The PBC contribution to the scholarship is NIS 40,000 a year, 50% of the scholarship, and it is contingent on matching in the same amount by the student’s university.

Number of scholarships: Every year the PBC grants up to 20 scholarships.



Program goals

• Encouraging outstanding students from the periphery to pursue doctoral studies at Israeli universities, while developing academic excellence, contribution to the academic community, and reducing disparities between periphery and center in Israeli society.

• Encouraging the long-term integration of PhD recipients from the periphery in the academic faculty of institutions of higher education.

The scholarship period: The scholarship is triennial and is given for three academic years.

The amount of the scholarship: Each scholarship is NIS 62,200 a year for three academic years, including NIS 52,200 a year from the PBC budget and NIS 10,000 a year to be paid to each scholar by the institution. The university will also provide each scholar with an annual amount of NIS 10,000 to cover research expenses.

Number of scholarships: Every year the PBC grants 10 scholarships.



Program goals

• To encourage students from the Arab community and other minorities to pursue doctoral degrees at Israeli research universities.

• To expand in the long term the number of members of the academic faculty from the Arab and minority communities in Israel.

The scholarship period: The scholarship is triennial and is given for three academic years.

The amount of the scholarship: Each scholarship is NIS 62,200 a year for three academic years, including NIS 52,200 a year from the PBC budget and NIS 10,000 a year to be paid to each scholar by the university. The university will also provide each scholar with an annual amount of NIS 10,000 to cover research expenses.

Number of scholarships: 14 scholarships are granted every year.



Program goals

• Encouraging and expanding academic research on the Israeli economy, both macro and micro.

• Encouraging decision-supporting economic research on core issues of focus for the Finance Ministry and its various departments.

The scholarship period: The scholarship is biennial and is given for two academic years.

The amount of the scholarship: Each scholarship is NIS 50,000 a year for two years.

Number of scholarships: 4 scholarships are granted every year. The scholarships are funded by the Finance Ministry.



Program goals

• To encourage outstanding women students in the following subjects: Electric and electronic engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, communications engineering, information system engineering, computer sciences, physics, mathematics, as well as structured programs with at least 60 credits from computer sciences, mathematics and statistics at an equivalent level of courses in double-major computer science degrees, to pursue doctoral studies at Israeli research universities.

• To expand in the long term the number of female members the academic faculty in hi-tech.

The scholarship period: The scholarship is triennial and is given for three academic years.

The amount of the scholarship: Each scholarship is NIS 62,000 a year, including NIS 52,000 a year from the PBC budget and NIS 10,000 from the academic institution.

Number of scholarships: 20 scholarships are granted every year.
